Hi guy just bought a clf stage 3 intake managment compresor unit for the jag, fitting took 3hours and required removal of the inlet manifolds and rocker covers. Bhp gain is expected to be around the 40bhp mark and boy can I feel it. These are available from tweeks and ebay for around £300-£400 varying from car models. Have you fitted yours yet lawton???

I've not seen these before? What are they, and how do they work?

Cheers

Rich

I am going to to see what happens when I have re calibrated it later and altered the inlet preasure, I am loving my new toy. Just found these on the net these replace the majority of the internal components within the unit which are likely to fail due to over reving, may be ordering these tomoz only £134.95 including vat.

Reason I say that is I followed the link. Tell me abit more about it, like what does it do? Where does it connect to? etc etc

the theory behind its is by using the compressor air is forced in at a much higher presure this is linked up to a seperate fuel solenoid which if conected by the shrader valve(think that is how you spell it). Similar to nos but without the nos. The air is filltered through a kind of refrigerator, I cant tell you why it does this. It then came with replacment stem seals which are made from a different compound.

so thats the theory behind it, but does it mean you have to pump it up every time you want it to 'boost'?

nope the compressor runs all the time as it never reaches a blow off preasure whilst the engine is runing as its is feeding the engine, when the engine is turned of so is the compresor. It has a small preasure regulator which is adjusted in relation to the fuel solenoid. I cant understand why no1 has neva heard of it, it was out b4 nos. CRYo2 do a similar system but much more expensive

sort of like a supercharger but not. i thought cry02 was just nitrous just without the nitrous as they use co2. thing is though if you keep turning it up (if you can) something is going to go bang if you don't look out

what does the hand pump handle do??

so what does this system do then, does it pressurise and cool the air?? does it need recharging with the coolant (which i assume is liquid nitrogen or something? or whatever a fridge uses to cool itself)

I reckon things will go bang unless set up properly, and maybe if it is set up properly. have u considered the follwing things

What sort of boost pressure is it at?

Compression increase increasing risk of engine damage?
Mixture leaning off resulting in very hot running and pistons melting?

im very curious as to exactly what this is.any links

I have never seen this before, is there a link to technical spec ?

My concerns is your cooling the intake temperatre (Similar as an intercooloer) so therefore yo can get more air into the combustion chamber and also forcing the air in using a compressor (Similar to a turbo or super charger) yet again getting more air into the combustion chamber but you need extra fuel to compensate or you Will cause engine damage due to lean mixtres.

I see you metion changing the fuel solenoid ? I presume this is to increase the fuel pressure therefore forcing slightly more fuel into the engine to compensate ?

This does not explain about running high compression with forced induction, typically you would run low compression ?

Lots of issues here but it sounds very intersting.....

yes your right am not to run more than 7psi, I have been told by getting the piston machined slightly I can run a higher psi but this would be extremely costly on the jag so thats a no no lol
