Does the operation of the REAR washer come under the MOT inspection? My rear washer has packed up and MOT is this Friday. Grrrrr.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't but you'll probably find it's just a motor. Fairly cheap and easy to sort.

Thanks to all for the replies. Phew ! I can hear the pump working, but nowt coming out of downstream end of pipe before jet assy. Could be disconnected/broken somewhere. Will check for washer fluid on the deck when/if it dries up outside !!

According to the SMMT: Around 1.5 million vehicles fail their MOT due to simple things such as faulty bulbs, too little tyre tread, or even empty windscreen washer fluid bottles A few years ago mine nearly failed for this, but the garage kindly topped it up. But they're not obliged to do so. But this was the front - far more important than the rear, which not all cars have.

With regard to the MOT, an item which is included is the main beam tell-tale on the dash. Mine is intermittent, which both I and my garage know to be the case. The service manager, who did the test, said "it was OK when I looked". wink.
