you need a video convertor, (video to vga), please note, when you do a search you check it's the way you want it and not vga to video, it works a treat, beware of cables they don't work, the one I have does video only, some are cheap and some are expensive, try

Maybe that's because sound does not come out of video, sound comes out of the sound socket.

no HDMI on older Tvs, hence he wanted RCA.

Could he use a RGB Scart Plug to 3 RCA Composite adaptor to connect the VGA to TV RCA S- Video adaptor through the scart socket?

Jeez, I was only trying to be helpful, RCA to VGA, Pete1507 says, yes you can get vga to video as above but the resolution is awful, I use RCA to VGA to put video onto flat screen computer monitors from PVRs etc, computer speakers complete the sound separately, but HDMI to VGA is possible with sound extracted from hdmi via pc speakers, now deconstruct that lot, mummy these people are shouting at me.
