everone goin bit off topic now.
Well u have my opinion someplace inside this topic amongst the crap.
Pt is up to u and the missiz at the end of the day. I actually have seen one in black that looked the mutts nuts, but i cant tel you anything about how the car is to drive and live with day to day.
It is a hard decision to make. If i was in your shoes i would buy something in the vw range and trick it out with luxery rather than anything with 16v's, turbo's, loud, exhausts, american. Maybe im being a bit biast but i know what i like and whats reliable.

I think we'll have to just disagree on this one matey lol. After all you're a traffic copper, as you said you've been taught to drive safely etc. Not that I don't, but you use your car for your job. I'm sure you'll get used to a LHD if you use it enough.

Modern Civics are quite stylish too (not the brand new ones), and you wont get a more reliable car. Especially not with any of the shit the Euopean and US marques throw out.

basically the thinking behind it was: I could do with a bigger car that will fit the 2 static baby seats and 1 adult comfortably in the rear and have space in the boot for a double pram and shopping/suitcases etc I also wanted something a bit different that looked a bit grown up. Im a respecatble house owner now, gotta make a good impression with the neighbours. lol. IMHO the PT cruiser is a love it or hate it car, i took me a while to like them but I think they have a unique style that looks prestige.

You want grown up, buy a Rover 75 lol. Much much better styling then the PT Cruiser, the 04/05 facelifted models look the business hehe. Cheap as chips nowadays thanks to the demise of Rover, you get a LOT for your money with them. For a really bigger car, how about a Zafira, that would suit your needs perfectly, and keep you in with the Vaux badge. Or maybe a Scenic, quite clever and functional cars, very practical use of space and good for kids, rather grown up to boot.

I find both the Zafira and the scenic boring to look at, and oh so common.

wot about alfa's? pick one of them up with reasonable mileage and fairly new for quite a decent price... just not sure wot they are like for getting parts for or reliability... the car is a decent size, not sure wot interior space is like tho... certainly looks respuctable in my eyes and has lots of character Example: here's a cple from autotrader: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/ALFA+ROMEO/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146,N-11-21-41-62-144-4294967222/advert.action?R=200739295433211&distance=6&postcode=ch62+1dt&channel=CARS&make=&model=&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage= http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/ALFA+ROMEO/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146,N-11-21-41-62-144-4294967222/advert.action?R=200739295295838&distance=24&postcode=ch62+1dt&channel=CARS&make=&model=&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage= http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/ALFA+ROMEO/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146,N-11-21-41-62-144-4294967222/advert.action?R=200741296387803&distance=3&postcode=ch62+1dt&channel=CARS&make=&model=&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage= http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/ALFA+ROMEO/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146,N-11-21-41-62-144-4294967222/advert.action?R=200741296150132&distance=30&postcode=ch62+1dt&channel=CARS&make=&model=&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage= probly the most sensible comments i've made in this thread lol

Alfa's are beasts, get the 156 MkII or go luxury and have the 166. You can get the 156 in a sportswagon iirc.
