With demise of the tall brick chimney at the old oleo works/mill on the corner of Canning Street and Sandford Street in Birkenhead, I was thinking about how many tall brick chimneys Wirral has left.

Staying outside Cheshire I can only think of a few:-

The old Carr Lane clay works between Moreton and Meols. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.4000076,-3.1358003,42m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu

Birkenhead High School for Girls by Grosvenor Place, not very tall but it qualifies by style. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.3...6thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

The mill by the Irish Ferry https://earth.google.com/web/@53.40...36358d,35y,128.69344763h,59.97118936t,0r

The tunnel ventilation towers, but these aren't traditional chimneys.

Any more?

Found another but it may be under threat or gone by now.

Typhoo Works, Moreton https://earth.google.com/web/@53.40...48276d,35y,128.61228342h,59.96913981t,0r

Ellesmere Port by the waterways museum.

I always class the canal to Chester as Wirral's southern border!

There's another one not far away from there on Indigo Road where I used to rent but that is on the other side of the canal, its a nice chimney though. https://earth.google.com/web/@53.28...05.43069275d,35y,150.20234553h,69.25t,0r

There's a modern one by Stanley Lane Clinic in Ellesmere Port (not far from the Fire Brigade's Tower) https://earth.google.com/web/@53.27...2789147y,-141.81520931h,62.46614627t,-0r

The reason I originally discounted the Cheshire part of Wirral was because I thought there were still loads in Ellesmere Port but actually its pretty barren there now as well.

There is one at the site of the old Blue Funnel Oddysey works on the Dock Road, Birkenhead. Not as old as some, but still standing.
