Scooby if you put the 2.5 Litre Lump in The Scoob, Would you run the turbo aswell ? and would you sell it straight after doing the work, or would you keep it for a bit longer??

Forgot to mention, it looks like subaru are replacing the unit with a nice new one under warranty but i have to pay for the gastet kit (£300)
Could be damage limitation....
I have further info on the 2.5 litre short engine that i will post later on...

Good news on the replacement, is't worth getting the heads flowed as there off , Have you got a alloy flywheel on it?? I fitted a set of manifolds 2 1 last year , that made a bit of extra power .

I dont know what to do Grizz, looking at maybe just fitting the new engine and selling it as i have lost faith and trust.
Its a bit like your wife cheating on you, you never quite get 100% trust back, there is always that shadow of doubt in the back of your mind....
Maybe its time to move on and get a new one but the question is what ??

TBH, I know its not a good thing, but I expected much worse and most of the piston to be missing. As the melting has occured on the side of the piston, and not in the center, I recon its run a little lean and done the damage. If a plug / injector had gone down, for sure, the whole piston would have been a gonna, but I recon its still had fuel flowing in there, just not enough to keep the entire chamber cool enough. Nice little Walbro jobbie if your keeping her when she goes back together
