right what happened was i was on the motorway, giving it abit of stick, and hear the tell tale pinking noise. i back off and get off at the next exit, only to find a roundabout beggin to grace my wonderous rubber. pooof! white smoke belows out the back. shit. thought bugger it, i'll just get home as i'm not waiting 2hours when i only live 10minutes away. that was yesterday. took head off when i got home from work, and its blew in the same place on cylinder 2 in the water passage. so with the head off i thought i'd get some measurements of the size of the dishes. just roughly it looks like its 21cc, which i think is standard so my compression ratio must be higher than i thought! will calculate the compression ratio tomorrow as i'm too tired now.

on a lighter note i manage to get hold of some 1.5 ratio full roller rockers for a price you wouldn't believe.........free! they are second hand and have quite a bit of wear in place but all the important bits are in good nick.

[Linked Image]

for those who don't know this is what the standard rockers look like

[Linked Image]

these roller rockers reduce valve train wear and because they are 1.5/1 ratio its like putting a mild road cam in the engine. too tired to explain it fully now.

she'll soon be back too this

I hope so mate.

Its amazing how you just take her apart and put her back together like lego.

its taken me 9 months to fit a new gasket to mine (plus I saved up for a re-con head) but still.

nice price on the rockers as you say happy

no time like the present!

turns out that my head needs skiming, as it looks like a banana! no wonder i was going through headgaskets. right after i've finished grinding my combustion chambers aswell.

for all those wondering how you measure combustion chambers, get some perspex, or anything clear and flat then drill a hole in it. put a small smear of grease on the head to help seal.

[Linked Image]

then use a syring to input you desired liquid (light oil or meths usually do) in

[Linked Image]

thats how you find out what the cc of the chambers in your head are. plenty of grinding and shaping and you have a open chamber. it important to think about the shape of your cylinder head as it isn't a certian shape for no apparant reason! doing what i have done with mine will give me less power low end but the turbo doesn't spool up till 3000!

comparison between a standard head i have

when i get it back i'll have to check them and probabily adjust them aswell.

well a good day today. came back with a bit less torque at only 100ft/lbs but 5 more ponies at 110hp. the power graph is alot smoother now, and power delivery on the road is smoother too! i'm only running 8-9psi of boost. when i get megajolt (map-able ignition) set up on the car i'll run around 10-11psi. i'm limited really at the moment with the distributor, so i've got a mix between low end and top end driveability.

two short vids
