Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to put a limit on the number of times an advertisement can be shown? Some of them seem to go on forever, especially the annoying ones.

The commercial TV companies are really struggling just now as companies cut back on their spending. If someone goes to them clutching a wadge of cash to spend on advertising there's no way they will turn them away, they need this money to stay in business themeselves.
When you think of the number of BIG advertising companies that have gone bust in recent years - MFI, Allied Carpets, Woolworths etc - that's a whole heap of revenue that they've lost.
