mmm just been reading what mattyc wrote and to turn off disk indexing i think you right click "local disk c:" (drive) go to properties and on the bottom uncheck the box sayin "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file sharing searching"
Am not totally sure so Matty reply for confirmation.

Aye thats the one Pomp. I couldnt post a full description as I have the whole indexing service turned off on my pc lol, so i dont see any option or tick box for it lol.

you can re-enable it by going into control panel -> administrative tools -> services and it will be in there. If you dont see admin tools, its cos your not logged in as admin or because the OS is locked down in some way.
