Hi mate, I think the piston rings are bust on the jeeps engine. It uses oil, there is back pressure coming outta the oil filler cap, it smokes when I've got my foot to the floor (white smoke). I think I may have noticed a loss in engine braking too. There's no cross-contamination between coolant and oil. Can you help? BTW Many thanks for sorting the Astra out so quickly, runs smooth as a babys bum now! and it feels like I've hit a brick wall every time i touch the brakes!

Sounds more like your original diagnoses, Cylinder head gasket matey.............
It is so very very hard to attempt to advise you on-line over it though. Are you loosing coolant (White smoke : Coolant burning)
BTW Many thanks for sorting the Astra out so quickly, runs smooth as a babys bum now! and it feels like I've hit a brick wall every time i touch the brakes!
Its kinda suprising what you get used to, you thought your brakes were okay before we serviced it, Just see how bad they really were <img border="0" alt=" " title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions051.gif" />

Not loosing coolant <img border="0" alt=" " title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions051.gif" /> Done about 300 miles in the Astra this weekend so the brakes have pretty much bedded in, not properly tested them out yet though.

I'll bring it in when I get time, that's if it's safe to run on it's axles at the mo! will have to have a look before hand coz two of the wheel bearings are going. I'll be getting new axles for it sometime v.soon though.
