when you type cmd and it shows in the possible programs, right click and select run as administrator.
if you still cant do chkdsk then do the tools again, but this time make sure both boxes are ticked.

Do you have a backup ?

Microsoft really wants you to upgrade to Windows 10.

The American tech giant has been aggressive pushing updates to its desktop operating system onto its users — and drawn significant criticism for the techniques employed.

The latest: Automatically upgrading users if they click X to close a pop-up about the update.

The new tactic was spotted by Brad Chacos over at PC World. For months, GWX (Get Windows X), the app responsible for all the Windows 10 update prompts, has been pushing updates onto users, to which the only way to opt-out was to press the X in the top-right corner to close the app (just like you do any other app).

But now GWX has changed its behaviour, and will take you pressing the X as a signal that you're happy to carry out the update at a time it provides. Instead, you have to manually change or remove the update time if you want to opt-out.

So if you're used to clicking X to get rid of the pop-up because you really don't want to (or can't, for software compatibility reasons) upgrade, then you might find yourself upgrading all of a sudden anyway.

There are reports on social media that users are being tricked into upgrading this way — much to their annoyance

Yes Im getting that message many times a day some days and I just click it off - so are you suggesting to just blue up the time box and delete it? then click off the upgrade to 10 box?(No point me altering the time,to the future, because I dont want it at all.)

I've just gone back to windows 7 after 6 months of windows 10, far too many compatibility issues with windows 10 causing pc to freeze and crash. It seemed fine at first but got worse as time went on, all is good in the world again now.
My advice, if you haven't upgraded yet don't bother.

I don't think its Windows 10 that causes the crashes, its usually browsers or flash.

Mine is really stable now, must be more than 500 hours since the last crash.

Google Chrome has and Firefox had a tendency to freeze, I've never had a freeze or crash when neither of those are running even when I have a lot of background stuff running.

There are a couple of Microsoft services that I switched off early on.

I find it ok
Never had a crash with Windows 7 and no issues with 10 upgrade.

Try running malwarebytes, you will probably find its crap causing crashes.

Have malware running Mark. Flash player is the problem, I believe it is no longer supported by Windows but many sites still use it
