Loving that Cortina matey smile

HIDs can be had for under £50 now, though I expect its more the age of the lense on your car that makes the lights so poor, rather than the bulb inside frown

Yeah, loosened up over time mate. Ill have to start doing them every 3 months.

Im not on retro rides but ive been on and had a blip through a couple of time. The Cortinas lovely. The handling is immense. The last owner tracked it and the setup is something else. Its been prepped and going for paint in the week. If my Dad doesnt change his mind again itll be in radiant red with the gold stripes.

Your right StuyMac. The lenses are VERY old. Im not arsed though. You dont need them these days with street lights everywhere, you only need them for lanes and such.

My clutch master cylinder went on tuesday so i changed it for a wilwood one. Now i think its blown a seal or split a pipe on the slave cylinder. Gearbox out job frown

Cars up for sale now. Im after something faster after a ride in that sierra cossie at the races. Been looking at Saab 9000 2.3 Turbos. Im after about 350-400bhp and i like the fact the Saabs makes silly torque to match even with relatively low boost (like 600nm with 370bhp!!!)

Quick update. Clutch isnt fixed which is why i havnt been out. Need to fix it over the weekend though cause i need the car on tuesday for work.

However, someones offered me a straight swap on a Sierra sapphire RS Cossie with 286bhp on low boost, 320 on a higher setting and dyno proven on a very recent rebuild (YB's cost the better side of £1000 to rebuild). Ill have to wait till december to insure it but itll give me time to hang a t3 off the side of it and wind the boost up a bit more.

Do you have a type-9?
Personally I'd stick with your 100e, they had one with a YB in a past Retro Ford mag, it's crying out for it!

Yeah ive got a type 9. The gearbox tunnel is cut big enough for a type 5 though. Id love to stick a yb in but i havnt got the cash.

Id stick something bigger then a t3 on then. Turbos and yb's are a new thing to me at the moment. Apparently it has a 4x4 turbo on it now.

Id like to keep the 100e but its just not fast enough anymore. I need more powers. Ive also been offered an RS Turbo S1 so im awaiting specs on it incase the insurance doesnt work out on the cossie.

I'd go for the S1 if it's tidy, I've seen them go for a bit.

The Cossies had a few different turbos, the 2WD had a small T3, and the 4x4 had a bigger T3.

Small turbo Escort Cossie had a T25, and the early ones had a T34 which is the turbo to have.

You dont really need much bigger than a T34 - they will support up to 350bhp, more if you get special internals fitted - Hybrid style wink

Sierra Cosworth all day for me if its a tidy one smile

Cars going on Sunday. Im driving down to Trax and me an a few mates are making a day of it there and then we'll swap before we leave. Im going to miss it, i really am, but on to faster things.

Heres a little spec list, but ill start a proper thread when ive got it.

1985 Series 1 RS Turbo. BVH, big cam, ported + polished, different ecu, double capacity intercooler, stage 1 hybrid T3, still got the LSD and an upgraded clutch. Spax adjustables, cossie discs out back with S2 up front. H reckons its worth about 180 brake but ill get it dyno'd as soon as i can. Plans are for a bigger turbo, remap, uprated gearbox with a long overdrive for cruising, those big diamond cut 16" or 17" RS wheels and about 250bhp.

And then ill probably sell it in 6 months time like i always do.

As standard theyre not, but you can wring silly numbers from them, especially the torque. I looked at one making 370bhp and 650nm of torque.

Change the master brake cylinder for a series 2 aswell as they have a 2mm upgrade from the series 1/3i etc. much better braking.

Do you have the reg for the series 1? might not/might be on the series 1 register.

what ecu is it?
