depends what you want and if you want a cat 1 alarm which will help your insurance.

i have just bought an alarm for my audi which has a remote start from 200m away, and it also pages you if someone attacks your car. also has the auto window roll ups when you et the alarm.

all this cost me £99 and if you are interested i will get you one.

hope this helps

ive got a clifford on mine and its great.
if you get a basic one you can upgrade it with loads of features. there are all sorts of things you can add......
*remote central locking
*window closure
*boot release
*remote engine start
*anti-hijack locks (just to name a few)
it depends on what you want from an alarm though, but it does get costly if you add loads of extras

i've got a clifford to an its spot on. its a cat 1 alarm+imobolizer, i didnt go for one with all the fancy gadgets, i went for the best/most secure one i could afford as the added features can always be added at a later date with cliffords. mine has features such as remote central locking, anti-hijack locks (where the doors lock when you turn the battery on, then unlock when u turn the battery off) interior proximity sensor etc etc, got other things but i just cant remember them lol

hope this helps smile

to have the alarms fitted properly for insuance wise then your better off getting it fitted via the pro's, i have a laserline cat 1 insurance approvrd alarm&immobiliser and its spot on for me i paid £300 for mine fitted by the pro's.
So really its up to you how much you really want to pay <img border="0" alt="[does this help]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions041.gif" />

You can go out and purchase a Car alarm that may be Thatcham Approved, However unless it is professionally installed by a Thatcham Approved Installer and the Thatcham Certificate Embossed your insurance will NOT offer any form of discounts.

Thatcham is a quality seal of approval in the U.K. If your alarm meets current Thatcham standards and is then istalled by a Thatcham Approved Installer then you can be rest assured the alarm itself and the fitting of the alarm has been carried out to a Very High Standard.

Anyone can fit an alarm but unless you fit it correctly thieves can easily by-pass it and still break into your car if they want to.

Moral Of the story : You get what you pay for !

Thatcham isnt cheap but its very good. There are several alarms out there who meet the current Thatcham standards. Your Choice matey.
