Hi can anyone recommend a mechanic who could come out and give me a diagnosis on what the problem is with my car. It is making a very loud knocking/banging noise from engine area. Possibly either gearbox or Thrust Bearing? but not sure. It doesn't make the noise when clutch is pressed. Thanks in advance

Does it still drive? These have very weak gearbox's so probably going to need it replacing, again it's just a guess, if it was the release bearing(or thrust) it would be making a squeal like a slipping alternator belt.

is the knocking banging noise only when you drive or if the car is stationary. May just be a mounting bolt---- if your lucky.
2 vehicles ive had over years when a banging knocking noise was present
1) snapd front coil spring when driving
2) the drive shaft coupling had gone
