I was on t-mobile for a good few years but contract was up last week so went with three because I wanted 4G internet on my iPhone 5s. I got the sim only One Plan with unlimited data including tethering for £20 a month, it's unlimited still on sim only deals, they have a 2gb tethering cap on 24 month phone contracts. Anyway my question is surrounding the 3G speeds.

When I got the phone on the first day, I was working in an area that just about had 4G coverage on the wirral coastline opposite Liverpool, which has recently got 4G and it was rapid, even though it was only 2 bars it was hitting 30mb per second download speeds. In other areas I am accessing their 3G dc-hsdpa so called "ultrafast" network. It was fast at 6am, up to 15mb per second although uploading was around 2mb. Well I have been testing it and during the day between 9am and 11pm it drops to barely 1mb per second with the evening being as slow as 0.3mb per second. There seems to be lack of bandwidth capacity round my way in Bromborough. Just done a test now at 8.20am and it's around 5mbps. By dinner time it will struggle to get above 2mbps. I know they use traffic sense between 3pm and midnight to throttle the hardcore downloaders but still some of these speeds outside the traffic sense hours are crap on 3G ultrafast? Anyone on Three network let me know what their getting? My postcode is earmarked for 4G upgrade in the next 3 months so hopefully it will be better.

Well Kieran I really do think you need to get out more, I remember the days when a phone was used for making calls.
