Is that where you get your MOT done?.Would they do it on the day or do i have to book it in advance?

Surely anybody qualified to carry out MOT has to meet standards of excellence, otherwise their licence would be cancelled.

Ghost Callers do visit the garages from the Department of transport. How often who knows. I would think they work from a complaints list.
Your MOT is on the day.
Your car may fail the next day!

I've used Crane Bank and Walsh's both have been fine for me, Crane Bank being the cheaper of the 2

I've used village motors for many years, they do give a free re-test and I have always found them very good.
