Hello all,
I planted some pumkin seeds earlier in the year, they have flowered and a couple of them started to bear some fruit. A few days later when I checked on them the small pumpkin had gone! Are there any animals / rodents that eat them? And if so is there a way to repel them?

Rats and mice can find them tasty. A couple of years ago I picked up one of my pumpkins and the whole inside had been hollowed out from the bottom. Too much for it to be slugs and snails so I presumed it was a rodent. Not sure what can deter them without tainting the crop.

Squirrels have eaten just about anything edible in my garden. They are huge and fat and the guy next door feeds the b*ggers.

If the whole pumpkin has gone I would think squirrels. They cart off bulbs etc. If it's been chewed to nothing, probably mice or rats. They all need dinner too.  Whatever you do, they'll fight back.

Squirrels love rat poisin pellets, dead pretty soon. Cats wont touch it, dogs might. So be careful where you place the pellets.
