We usually go to the Marine Lake in New Brighton where we catch a few, not loads, but enough to make my lad happy. This year though for whatever reason we haven't caught one.
Hope some of you old hand knowledgeable types might know of the best crabbing spots on the Wirral.

Sorry roobarb, don't know anywhere on the Wirral, but can guarantee you'll catch loads at Conway Quay or further along past the Marina you'll come to The Beacons, nice beach and a little jetty.Plenty of crabs and maybe some tiny flounders.Nice pub at the Marina for meals or snacks, about an hour-hour and a half.

We used to catch them in the docks years ago. I think with a length of string or gut (Gut in poundland now) with something tied on the end and lowered down the dock wall. Or do you mean with a little fishing net in a rock pool or similar. I wonder if there are any fish in the docks?

Probably a lot of crab around the sunken ship at the four bridges.

west kirby marine lake a lot safer than the docks with little ones and the chance of getting a baby flatfish, bullhead and shrimps if you drag a net along the edge on the walkway round the lake. Great fun.
