Before you dont go out rushing to buy windows 8 just look at what i found out by chance?

Windows 8 for Only £24.99 ??

Windows 8 Pro OEM £108 (Full Installer)

Run the Update Checker First !
You may be as surprised as i was. . . . .
After it checks the apps on your machine and compatibility you are presented with 3 options, but they will tell you how much to do a digital upgrade. You can have a disk for +£8.99

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8

I'm not planning to upgrade but handy to know.

You can burn your own disk from the installer too smile But it wont install from cd as a clean install, it fails. For a clean install I did a fresh install of win7 then immediately upgraded it to win 8. Its as good as for 25 quid............

My pc came back ok for devices.
Only secure Boot Failed the test but not required.

But you need a 3rd party software to play a DVD.
Media Player does not come with a licence, it looks like that is now an extra (Unless you have windows media Centre). And that has a limited time on it.

The vibes im getting is the windows 8 it ok on a Touch Screen, Do not assume that all the good reviews are a Desktop Review there not. Reading closer to the bone Desk Top Reviews state that its not good value for money and it needs a touch screen.

I do not see any reason to upgrade if your a desktop / mouse user. You probably have the best version already.

If you use multiple monitors windows 8 is the first version of the os that works flawlessly.

Sure, at the moment there are compatibility issues, but, on the whole it's ok.

What "job"? Windows and Office is probably the most common setup used in business.

Indeed. Ideal if you have someone whose job it is to look after the setup.

It's just so much more cumbersome and clunky than it needs to be no matter which version you are on.

Same as wanky windows phones.

Well I like it, I have it running on the guinea pig and I have decided that it is pretty much the same as windows 7 except that your start menu is now a start screen, once you have removed all the standard tiles and put all of your own frequently used apps there, it is actually very efficient. I do agree linux is the way forward for the technicly minded (I have it running on a pc and a ps3, gasp!) but for the masses, and people like me who like to play a lot of games on my main computer, windows isn't exactly the devil, and I am starting to get used to and even like the ease of the new layout in the latest version - even without touch screen!

and ohh err, post 69, lovely!

If you want Windows 8 but the look of 7 or XP, then the free Classic Shell is the way to go:

If you want Windows 7, why not just install Windows 7?
