My son ( yes that one again) has damaged his keyboard. He has been told a section has failed. How much will it cost to repair or replace. It's a Toshiba laptop.

You can just plug in a Standard Keyboard via the usb socket  You would have to post the Model as your description is too vague. Its not too difficult to do.

Keep getting malicious URL blocked from Avast antivirus when I open your comment,have you antivirus on your pc which you used to make your comment with, when I open others all is ok.

Update makes no difference , Avast! updates on a regular basis anyway & I am fully up to date & still getting a malicious url warning when clicking this link .
