can anyone tell me why two of my trees are infested with caterpillers?one at the front of the house with very small green ones and the one at the back of the house with about an inch long grey spotted ones.have taken as many off as i could see but thought it was the wrong time of year for them.

well watch it lady because some of them are poisonous and you will get a rash and grow hairs out your back if you touch them.

I understand they are prolific this year and are not likely to harm the tree for next year.

thanks moonstar didnt think they would do any harm to the actual tree but have never seen so many in one place before and i have been gardening for many years.i bought the trees to celebrate the jubilee this year so to see them without any leaves on them is very sad as its not winter yet.

I understand they are prolific this year and are not likely to harm the tree for next year. That must be a good thing . Lots of butterflies and moths. There also seems to be an abundance of slugs Moonstar, which are b awful. Can't think of any benefits from those, unless they are providing a feast for the hedgehogs.
