"Johnathan Bennison's 1835 map of the district the only building standing in Victoria Road was the New Brighton Hotel which looked out across sand-hills and scrub to the sea."

It's full name was the Neptune and it was a Threlfall's pub in the 50s as was the Ship, York and the Hotel Victoria. I worked at the York for the whole 'Summer Season' of 1956!
