my astra g 05 reg 1.7 cdti has the engine light on? been on for about month,gone into limp mode about 3 times,wont go over 3000 rmp then next min is fine,other than this it drives fine not using lots of fuel ect,sometimes it
will stay off for hours then come back on,think its the egr valve? need the codes reading,anyone recommend someone,cheers

Something that is bringing the engine light on will need code reading to diagnose - its the quickest, cheapest and easiest way to find the fault  Try Vauxcare down by Lairds - Vauxhall experience, but not dealer prices http://www.vauxcarewirral.co.uk/

try one of these mate as it will read all the codes on your car and is only £20 .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OP-COM-OP..._Tools_Equipment&hash=item256ba1e2a6if you own a vaux there a lifesaver and saves you getting charged £15+ each time you have to go somewere to have it read .. if its used once then its payed for itself .. easy to use too

Did you manage to get codes read mate. If not i can do it for you on my snap on scanner. As you say its probably EGR needs cleaning.

If the egr was blocked you would notice the power would be lower than it used to be at all times.
