There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

Having not been on a train for about 25 years, probably more, what position does a guard take that enables him to see people wanting to get off a train. Bench called him a rear guard and if that's where he stays to view the carriages, depending on how many carriages how can he view the insides to know how many people want to disembark. It would be a bit different with people getting on, at least he should be able to view the length of the platform. Perhaps the guard was at fault on this occasion but I just wonder what can be expected from one man under certain conditions he is expected to work by rail companies, it wasn't long ago they wanted to do away with some guards if not all of them.

God help us,
Come yourself,
Don't send Jesus,
This is no place for children.

This is a very serious incident and that guard could be doing the same thing every night,so I wouldnt stop with a complaint I would let the echo,Globe and radio merseyside know they can all be contacted through e-mail from there websites.

Got this in an email from Merseyrail today.

"Our Trains Manager currently investigating this incident, and as soon as his investigations are completed, we will contact you again."
