Source: Liverpool Echo A MERSEYSIDE teenager is recovering after he was hit over the head with a hammer. The 17-year-old, whose skull was fractured in the attack, was also stamped on. Two teenagers have been charged with assault after the attack in Strathcona Road, Wallasey, on Monday night. A 36-year-old man and a 16-year-old who were also arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries. A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “Officers were called at about 10.15pm to Strathcona Road to a report a male had been assaulted in the street and had sustained a head injury. “Officers attended and the 17-year-old was taken to hospital by ambulance and treated for a head injury. “The scene was cordoned off, a search of the area and house-to-house enquiries were undertaken.” A hammer believed to have been used in the incident was recovered and police arrested the three men and the 16-year-old a short time later. The ECHO understands the victim’s family claim he was taunted on social networking site Facebook before the street attack. He was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital before being transferred to the specialist Walton neurological centre to be assessed for his head injuries. He was discharged on Wednesday and is now recovering at home in Wallasey in the care of his family. They have been told to keep a close watch on him in case he has a seizure or blackouts but doctors believe he will make a full recovery. The teenager’s dad told the ECHO his son was lucky not to have been more seriously injured and thanked family and friends for their support. He said: “This has been a very scary time and it was touch and go for the first night.” Samuel Case, 18, of Seabank Road, Wallasey and Daniel Green, 18, of Greenwood Lane, Egremont, appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with assault. They were remanded in custody and will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on July 11.

On the way home last night saw about half a dozen youths chasing one down Park Road North from Duke Street towards the Park Entrance, they were yelling and looked in total earnest. He was fast so I don't think they caught him as they then headed up towards Laird Street. Wouldn't have fancied witnessing anyhing there and the missus wasn't too happy either. You don't need this crap when you've just been out for a couple of hours.
Birkenhead........ God's own Room 101.
