Big big tailbacks on M53 southbound by Clatterbridge (J4). Fire engine flew past so might be bad. Best avoid if possible.

Update : A Motorist is being treated for shock after his car overturned on the M53 exit sliproad at junction five near eastham this morning.
A number of vehicles are also believed to have been involved in the incident,... which occured at around 9.30am.
Lanes one and two of the carriageway are currently closed, with traffic being filtered into lane three. Motorists using lane one are being diverted up the junction four sliproad.
A Highways Agency investigation is under way to establish the cause of the incident.

I was caught in the tail back this morning heading south. Could not believe the two idiots that used the hard shoulder. A pick up and a blue car. Who the stopped a fire engine getting through.

I managed to get off at J4, go round the roundabout and get onto the motorway on the other side of the accident before an unmarked BMW closed the slip road. The car on the southbound carraigeway was in a bad way. About 300 yards south there was a SMART CAR on its roof on the northbound carriageway at the same time....
Hope the drivers and passengers were all ok.

yeah we drove (slowly due to weather) towards bromborough from walasey at around 9.30 and saw the car on the roof and people stood on the grass, aswell as traffic queue getting longer behind, hope everyone involved was ok
