Merseyside Police can confirm that it received a report of a body sighted
in the River Mersey, near to the ramp on the beach near Caithness Drive,
Wallasey, just before 10.30am this morning (Wednesday, 28 September).Police patrols and the underwater search team unit attended at the location
and recovered the body of an adult man from the water.
The process of formal identification of the deceased is ongoing.
The death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will be carried
out this afternoon.
