I would love to hear of any one who lived in Tranmere.
I was born in Orchard Road Tranmere where my Aunt lived and roamed all over the area... but was brought up in Dee Street which was off St Pauls Road.
My Aunt's mother in law....ran the Golden Fleece pub for a few years in the early 60's. I remember playing in the back yard and rolling the empty beer barrels down the slope.

I remember walking past the Crooked Billet many a time... the fine hop like smell coming from the door still sticks in my memory.. you dont get that wonderful aroma now in most pubs.

You can hardly recognise the area now.

Rockferry was a lovely mix of fine Vicotorian/edwardian villas and terrace houses...most are gone todsy.

I lived in the Billet when I was 6-8 years old in 1961-3, my mum and dad were the licencees - their names were Eric and Dorothy Hawker - does anyone remember us? I remember it as a real old-fashioned pub.
