I construct and fly model aeroplanes and helicopters both nitro and electric.I am in Arrowe park and Deeside model flying clubs. Not the easiest of things to learn or do and you need to be very careful and patient, you need insurance and a licence and be trained by a tutor who know what he or she is doing as it can be very expensive taking your planes home in a bin bag. Here are some photos the first photo is one of mine. Thanks for looking..Happy landings

How much does something like that cost, just out of interest?

To be honest the cost is too much,as you have a lot to loose and you cant insure the loss of a plane..To start off cheap, get a second hand set up around £150 with a trainer aircraft with the wing on top.Move on to a low wing thats the wing underneath the fusalage. Then once you master that the sky is the limit.Jets come in all sorts of form from ready to fly, build from scratch, part built, second hand.I would say they start around the £400 mark up to £1000,s My jet is worth around £1500 if I sold it second hand...fusalage about £500..engine £2000..electrics,batteries,servos..about £200..retractable under carrage £200 then you have to put it all together and then test fly and hope you got it all correct or you are in trouble. On top of this you have a transmitter from £60 to £1000 chargers, spares, starter pumps..fuel about £15 a gallon for prop planes and £6 to £7 for the jet.[jet A1 or Parrafin} thats what a full size jet runs on just pure parrafin.A gallon for a prop plane will last about 8 to 10 outings but the jet fuel will use 3 litres a flight in about 8 minuites top speed around 200 mph. Have a look on youtube for a r/c hotspot and then r/c A380 and it will give you an idea how much it can cost if you let it..thanks for the interest from every one....Dave

Nice!!! I have a friend who flies them too. He's just come back from a show/competition in the States. I've seen these a fair few times at Air Shows and never tire of them!

Thanks for sharing happy

He must be good at it and dedicated, out of my league Im afraid. They have all the best shows and comps in the states and they pay alot less for every thing as well. You can get things sent over but you pay duty on it,cant win...thanks for looking.

I used to make them from scratch when i was a kid with petrol motors. Used to fly them from the old RAF base in West Kirby, using the bases of the demolished buildings to take off and land on! even did the "Fly-by-wire" planes, controlled on steel cables like kites!!

Control line the ones with wires. One man in our club does it but only once a year at our flyin at Arrowe park.I have seen them the shows {Nationals Barkston heath Lincolnshire}doing combat and a pulse engine as well in a wire cage.It got up to an amazing speed the feller hanging on to a post in the middle, funny sight.scratch built ones now are becoming rare as it is cheaper to buy them built or almost built.closest shop Steve webb Frodsham has a good selection and he on the net.
