Welcome to our 2010 Heritage Open Day’s Brochure.
Heritage Open Days celebrate England’s Outstanding
Architecture and Culture by offering free access to properties
that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for
admission.
Every year during September all types of buildings open their
doors to the public. Heritage Open Days offer once a year a
chance to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a
range of conducted walks that will bring local history and culture
alive to us all.
From the 9th to the 12th of September 2010 Wirral History
and Heritage Association will be hosting English Heritage
Open Days with a range of Buildings, Places of Worship, and
Conducted Walks. Merseytravel will also be running Wirral’s
Historic Tramway.
All these events would not be taking place without the enthusiasm,
commitment and expertise of local groups and people. So to
all those who have supported the Wirral History and Heritage
Association endeavours in promoting Wirral we say a Big Thank
You.
We have placed all these events in this brochure, and on English
Heritage Web Site. If we receive any late applications after we
publish this brochure they will also be put on the EH web site.
Wirral Heritage Open Days will also be advertised on www.visit
wirral.com and other outlets.
Lastly I would like to give a special thanks to the friends who
have helped me in compiling this brochure.http://wirralheritage.org.uk/

I picked up a brochure today, it's really informative. Any idea why they picked that one weekend to have all the events? It's a shame because they all clash. If you where quick you might get a couple in.

That's not true. As someone who is involved with the WH&HA I can confirm it is honourable and hardworking organisation and without exception run by people who also work hard promoting Wirral`s history and heritage. I do not know why you are making such a dishonest statement and hope you have the decency to remove it and soon.

I would like to see a bit more interest in the remaining WW2 sites, I can only find ONE listed on the site. WW2 was such an important part of the Wirral, it should be remembered both as a heritage and a reminder for generations to come, that war is deadly.

Birkenhead, especially was probably more affected by WW2 than any other town in Britain.

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

This sounds like the national mill's open weekend back in May, where mill owners opened their mills (old wind and water ect)to the public, in some cases there was small event's in the gradens/grounds.

An event well supported on the Wirral (not !)
