As I am only a new "lad" to this forum obviously I am unaware of previously posted forums regarding this subject anyway I am wondering whether anyone remembers school boysa during my period at the "Gorsey" School during 1952 to 1956?I was in old "Woolley's" class-4A when I was ending my days there.
THe Maths teacher was Mr Evans; The Wood-work teacher was Mr.
Skinner(always rode his bike!);And then there was the Art teacher -can't remember his name for the moment-but he had a red(I think)sports car-maybe an MG?
All the time I was there I was in Classes- 1A;2A;3A and then 4A
and my Birth name was CADDY-who had a strong Lancashire accent!
Iam a young 69 years old and as I said left April 1956.-Anyone remembers those post war school days-at THE GORSEDALE SECONDARY MODERN SCHOOL-for Boys?

I went to Gorsey in 1982-1984 when it closed, so a while after you guys. I remember when we were first told it was closing, we had to go round door to door getting signatures for a petition to keep it open. Things I liked about the school were the huge quad in the middle and the sloped gaps inside the staircases that we used to slide down when there were no teachers about.

Can't recall Woolley's sayings but we used to make him go mad and had terrible tantrums when it was polling day-we put up posters in the class room-saying VOTE FOR WOOLLEY!
He used to find out who did the deed by working out the cuplprit's writing! We would be sent to the head who gave us the cane on the hand-ouch!

Thanks Buddy for the reminder of further teachers;Ceah I cannot recall at all-what was his specialty?
I am intrigued about your ID so we must have conversed during my third year there-as clearly by the time I travelled to 4A you had truly gone!
My only possible ID to help you regarding myself was the Billy Jones, and Derek Guile was my mates and I wsas suffering from a bad gbout of stammering with a Lancashire accent!-By the way Parthia is my ID name-which was because I have always been keenly
interested in ship ever since I came over from Burnley in 1949.
The Cunard ship PARTHIA was the very first liner I saw at the Stage.

Thanks ahbaldy-are you?-bald?-anyway although the image was wonderful-I can't work out the date it was taken,.But the only teacher I did recognise was Evans-the left of him was familiar-also the right of him but cannot put a name to them.I don't remember any women as teachers. The top row second left of Mr.Evans looks familiar;and them on the front row next the whom I assume was the head athat time-on his right looks like perhaps the art teacher?-many thanks again.

Mr Ceah was the science teacher and he lived in Liscard
I was a member of the school brass band and so was Mr Evans
Re: School photo - thanks for posting ahbaldy - we didn't have any female teachers when I was there nor do I recognise any of the male teachers - not even Mr Evans!! - which one is he??

OOps my old age y'know-I thought the fella in the middle of the second row was Evans-but since looking again at the image he didn't appear to show Mr Evan's slanted mouth which he had.-with the fawn coloured suit-but he does look familiar!
Mr Evans went on to be the headmaster of the junior school in Woodchurch Road-the one near the T.A.Ball's funeral place.

My hobby was collecting photo's of ships-still do!hence the reason for the computer.
One of the lads in the class was Karl Bjerken and another was Derek Guile-he was in the band as well-I think he played the trumpet or cornet-not sure we were great friends-together with Billy Jones-who lived further down Gorsedale Road-near the girl's School-Somerville.
Thanks again buddy

Is this the same dave webb from first buses that took my wedding photo's (clue)?

The only one's I remember are 2nd left is Mr Wilkinson, used to teach my mum, then me so it shows how old he was. Middle row 2nd right is Mr Bugden, the music teacher and head of the oak group. And bottom row 3rd left is Miss Prowse, use to me a nasty piece of work.

I left Gorsedale School in 1966....does anyone remember the young teacher that also ran the drama club? I think his name started with a B. I can close my eyes and it's like I am back there even though it's 45 years ago.

Hi Albert, although I would be a bit younger than yourself you may have known my brother Tommy Wright. We lived in Wheatland Lane next to Dearings scrapyard. I knew your sister Pat and brother Robert?. I was the youngest then Ian and then Tommy (Butch) . Tommy passed away about 7 years ago.
What a small world it is we live in. Cheers
