Hello everyone, I am currently building a replacement website for the community of New Ferry. I have been trying to pull together all the period photos I can find into one place, as it has taken me a very long time to find what I have so far. I want to make it easier for people to find what they want to know about New Ferry. I would love to post any pictures or stories you may have about New Ferry. You can see our new site at www.newferryonline.org.uk Please excuse us for any links not working yet, the site is still being constructed but is 80% completed now.

They have a picture up on in the wall in the Wetherspoons of old New Ferry - maybe they would let you take a copy?? Site is great

The Dell Primary School is seen on the left on The Dell, 1957 ![[Linked Image]](http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh315/PaulWirral/NF_Dell_Promary_School.jpg) The magazine ships are seen moored off New Ferry. Ships entering the River Mersey had to deposit any gunpowder they had on board during their stay in port. From 1786 they were stored at the Magazines in Egremont, Wallasey, but an Act of Parliament in 1851 stipulated they had to be stored offshore so they were moved to vessels moored off New Ferry. However, on 15 July 1864, the 'Lotty Sleigh' had just taken on board 11 tons of gunpowder from a magazine ship, when it exploded causing damage to property ashore. The pier was 856 feet long and opened to the public in 1865, operated by the Mersey River Steam Boat Company the ferry plied to and from Liverpool. Just had a quick look at the New Ferry site, looks really good. I've bookmarked it so I can have a proper look at it when I've more time.Don't have any photos of New Ferry unfortunately, you would be welcome to them if I had any.Good luck with the site, anyway

great pics, is the one of the plough vaults is that what is rightway diy now Yes, it is indeed Rightway DIY now. Until I saw this photo, I never knew the building had been a pub in its former life. Many thanks everyone for the pics and advice, and comments about the site. This will be an ongoing project, and I will post more stuff as I get it. New Ferry Regeneration Action Group circulates a newsletter to the 3,500 households in New Ferry/Port Sunlight, and we will be publisizing the new website and appealing for more pictures and stories in the next issue which will probably be at the end of this year. So we might get a few more things from residents in the new year. And to Summer01 who asked about whether we would be including Rock Ferry - sorry but no. We had not intended to go too far outside of New Ferry (although we have traditionally included Bromborough Pool village). We have not included Port Sunlight Village, as that community already has its own website and loads of other sites stuffed with photos of the place (as lovely as it is).

Hi,hope I have got the right guy.Didyou post about New Ferry baths and prefabs.
I lived in Winstanley Rd 1940-1962 and I can assure you that there were German POWs at the former gunsite at Shorefields The huts were later over by Squatters.Have you any info on New ferry brickworks
