I went out on this today and loved every minute of it. I love being on any boat, even the Mersey Ferry LOL. We left Seacombe at 11am and got back at 2.30 - for £10 - how good is that?????
It was primarily a wild life spotting cruise with several members of RSPB on board. They were constantly on the look out for birds and seals and there was a commentary with info on what was spotted.
Apparently the geese are just returning (not sure where they've been LOL) and the first land they come across is Ainsdale / Formby beach where they rest and feed before carrying on. There were hundreds and hundreds there today. As you know, it was the air day at Southport and every time there was any new plane activity (Red Arrows etc)all these geese took to the air - awesome.
Unfortunately my zoom was not strong enough to pick up the most of the wild life so it's all gulls and wind turbines I'm afraid!!!! Oh and my feckin battery ran out
The RSPB was done 4 of these cruises this year and I really would recommend them - not particualrly for the wildlife but to sea the coast line from a different angle.
