Someone on page 1 of this thread asked for the name of the pub opposite Seacombe Ferry which was demolished in the 70s it was the Marine Hotel (Whitbreads) locally known as Brasseys, it was situated on the corner or Bikenhead Road and Church Road, there is a roundabout there now and a new housing estate I haven't seen any photos or mention of it on the site.

Hello

Not sure if this has been posted before but today I noticed the old Post Office pub in Argyle Street has closed. I don't go that way very often so maybe it's been closed a while.

The Queens Arms (or whatever it is called now) in Oxton was looking closed at 08:20 pm Friday night.

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

About 25 years ago I recall a pub in a side street off Victoria Road New Brighton, it was called the Craftsmans they had their own brew and on the label it said "brewed by Craftsmen for Craftsmen. I do not see any reference to this pub, I assume it has gone now.

The New Ferry Hotel doesn't seem to get a mention. It was on New Ferry Road, past the Great Eastern and was situated right on the river front by the slip way. Fake Tudor frontage, bowling green at the back, plenty of parking space, bit entertainments room backing onto the bowling green. It later became the Birenhead and District Buff Club (RAOB) and then was lost through mis-management and razed to the ground. A loss to the area as the views from the bar window across the river were spot on with a pint in your mitt.

A cracking bit of history and the Cleveland Arms is still known as Bowskill's locally, all the way from 1916 at least. Fascinating.

I too would like to know the name of the pub at seacombe ferry. Corner of church rd/ birkenhead rd.
Tiny little place...and i do mean tiny. One foot in the door+ u were at the bar!
It was white, i think with steps?
Been bugging me for years.
The ground subsided last year revealing the basement still there!
