As you can see from the pictures there is very little damage on the outside of the pub but there is smoke damage inside. It's a bit of a coincidence that the North Star opens, then he Comet closes and catches fire. The Police video van was there at midnight and is still there. Looks like the Police don't think it's a coincidence.

soz for coming in so late on this one but in Northenders first pic there is a cctv camera right across from it...they could just look at that surely?

That camera is one of the older fixed ones, possibly to monitor the traffic. The other one further down opposite the small church is a newer dome type which can be rotated and zoomed.
The police should be recording everything 24/7 round that area.

Looks like a pan & tilt mounted just beneath the camera. Don't think it would be popular around there!
