as far as I can recollect the nanny goat mountains are at the back of Mercer road at the end near tollemache road
On the top of them there used to be a hospital [fever hospital orfor sexual diseases - I mean people suffering from them not the diseases themselves]
There's a new housing estate there now

As you travel along hoylake road from St James church and pass the last of the houses on the left hand side. that stretch of land up to the light at th corner of bidston road was the site of very large field guns { and i mean big guns} during the last war. they where trained out to sea so as to protect the entrance to the river mersey. any opening dug into the rocky hill side behind was for the storage of ammo and shelters for the gun crews. there must be other members who remember them as well as me.

My father has told me many a story about the gun sites the one you refer to above was known as Big Bertha and they used to store the ammo for it in a cut out on Bidston village road .There where also gun sites behind Bidston hall with the ammo being stored in a purpose built trench on the track at the side of the hall that runs up to the hill you can still see the remains of this trench and some of the gun sites to this day
