What is it with Denbigh and arsonists? now some fuckers have done the local war memorial

Yobs torch war memorial in North Wales

MINDLESS thugs who set fire to a war memorial and 50 commemorative wreaths were last night blasted as “despicable.”
Charred poppies and melted plastic was left at the foot of the smoke-stained angel stone in Denbigh town centre after the blaze.
Flames ravaged the war memorial after arsonists torched it in the early hours of Monday morning.
CCTV images show a number of males hovering around the cenotaph around 12.30am – just minutes before it is engulfed in fire.
Police are now examining the tapes and asking anyone with information to come forward.

Last night, members of the Royal British Legion lashed out at the “heartless” culprits.
Poppy collector and president of the Denbigh RBL branch, Bob Roberts said: “I was very saddened to hear what had happened, there were around 50 poppy wreaths laid around the memorial, all left by local organisations, mourners and school children.

“This year was our record year for poppy sales raising £9,000 – we were celebrating such overwhelming support and then something like this happens.”
He added: “The monument is burnt and stained with melted plastic and the council will have to clean it.
“Whoever has done this just for the sake of it has no regard or respect for anything.”
Mike Greenwood, RBL county manager for North Wales said: “It was disappointing to hear this attack happened. It is such a despicable thing for someone to do, it is just sheer vandalism.”
And Denbigh town and county councillor Colin Hughes added: “It is absolutely shocking there are elements of Denbighshire’s society that would do something so thoughtless.

“Memorials are there to remember fallen comrades from various conflicts and wars to save us all - this attack was completely senseless. I will be speaking to the council to organise the cleaning of the stone and make sure it gets done as soon as possible.”
He added: “This incident disgusts me, I really hope the police catch whoever is responsible.”
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said: “An appeal is going out for information after the war memorial in Denbigh was set on fire.”
