No, completely covered now, but we will always know exactly where it is, by reference to the manhole cover you can see in the second set of pictures, taken by Wheels.

its an absolute disgrace the way our history is covered over and witheld from us just because the government/council cannot be bothered... for the sake of a little investment or even a lottery grant, these historic tunnels could have become a hugely popular tourist attraction..

If these tunnels where open up as a tourist attraction i'll be first on the line to work there in either of em.. If that ever happened it'l be a great job that laugh And just think special tours for wiki's hehe wink

i went to the the top of Holborn hill to day to speak to the workers on the site of the shaft they showed me were it was and said theys sealed it i asked waht with and is it possable to get back in he said it is but he would,nt allow me to have a look.

i figered out it was the vent shaft for the tunnels under the monkey
steps wow very intresting. he says there is a way in in cammel lirds

I think they've given you bad info. there. The shaft is capped with at least 12" of re-inforced concrete. I watched the preparations. There is NO WAY through that. Also, there's never been any suggestion that these were called the Laird's tunnels; that's just an error by the author of the Echo article. Also, There's never been any suggestion that there was an entry to the tunnels from Laird's; they would have walked up Green Lane.
