The A3 TDI Clubsport Quattro is a concept car that continues the company’s ‘diesel is good’ mantra. Blessed with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, the A3TDICSQ (if you’re an acronym fan) can get from 0-62 in 6.6 seconds and top out at 149mph. These figures are mostly down to 221bhp and a vision blurring 332lb ft of torque.
Cosmetically it’s hard to tell what hasn’t been changed – the Clubsport features huge wheel arches, a ‘DTM inspired’ wing and a massively revised front bumper. The inside has been fettled, too – the crazy exterior colour scheme has made its way inside, including to the bum-cosseted bucket seats.
Audi will be showing the car off to enthusiasts in Austria and although the bods from Ingolstadt claim it’s not going to be made, a version of the tweaked diesel power plant could find its way into production.
To me, they're good figures for a 2 litre diesel in a maffif motor
