Sky has announced Sky Travel will be renamed Sky Real Lives from November 7.
The new channel will have a greater focus on programmes with a human interest story and be targeted more at women in the 35-54 age range.
Barbara Gibbon, head of Sky Travel, said: "We have decided to separate the travel business from our programming on the core channel - this will significantly improve the service from both viewers and travel customers."
"Sky Travel was originally launched so that customers could watch travel programmes to see what holidays were like before they booked them. Now you can go anywhere online to look up a destination," she added. Oh great, another womens channel lol. Its a pity really, because Sky Travel is actually a half decent channel. But it was only a matter of time, the nails were put in the coffin when Murdoch had his request to turn Sky Travel (to be renamed Sky Channel at the time) into a PSB turned down a few years ago. So we can blame the government for another womans channel haha Digital Spy Report

Public broadcasting (also known as public service broadcasting or PSB) is the dominant form of broadcasting around the world, where radio, television, and potentially other electronic media outlets receive funding from the public. These funds can come directly from individuals through donations or fees, or indirectly as state subsidies that originated in taxes or other national funding sources. ... clicky
