Kontiki - I know all about it anyway, its used by Sky Anytime PC, which ive had for about 2 years.

Its not hiding the program, it runs on the Kontiki software, which is the p2p software being used to share the files around.

It runs 100% fine except when you are downloading stuff, then it begins to get a bit CPU heavy.

Its exactly the same on Sky Anytime, although they have lowered the usage a considerable amount since it was first launched, and I expect the BBC will do the same in time for the official non-BETA launch of the iPlayer.

ahhh thought it sounded familar.. Just strange it uses so much resources may be thats why BBC still havnt sorted it out. Nice proggy though good to catch up for the likes of Dr Who or summit.. but still resource hungry heh!!

is this bbc i-player free software or somink?

Yeah its free fella, its the BEEB lol, it has to be! But its in BETA atm, and can be a bit buggy.
