I found summit else, dont think its been posted before, its only short but possibly sheds a bit more light:

In fact, there was talk at one time that these and the Tranmere ones actually met but that was impossible.

There is also an extensive 4 page article on mainly the Tranmere tunnels, but also the Bidston tunnels at http://icwirral.icnetwork.co.uk/news/regional/tm_method=full%26objectid=13913093%26siteid=80898-name_page.html

Interestingly, it states that the Tranmere tunnels at least, we blocked off in 1988.

Further searching has led me to this small, but interesting paragraph:

You may recall such a story caused a big stir here on The Wirral when one of our local newspapers exposed stories and evidence of a similar labyrinth under Bidston Hill that supposedly stretched for miles. However, for one reason or another, the story faded out of the limelight as Wirral Council denied their existence. The light inside yet another dark space was turned off.

This little Quest is quite interesting as it does seem a little bit like the series "Lost" where
they find that hatch. Then they start finding ways of getting in.

Who knows what kind of suprise we will get if we manage to get in... curiousity will fly around until
then. Would be well worth it if we could make it in, we would be able to see near enough the
conditions/surroundings that ppl lived in during world war 2. This is also a kind of a little
school history trip lol and also one of them things u can say when the topic of Bidston tunnel
comes up (Been there, done that, seen it all)

I think when we do go in pomp it will be the Thrill Factor
and not so much the WOW factor.

Interesting articles..
And that's why the kids hanging around there know more than us.
Would be handy if one of there dads could show us the
Emergency shaft.

Yep we got in and we have pictures etc....

We have back filled so it don't look too obvious.

Its scary shit.

Yipeee i was in lol
And around that brick wall was the darkest longest
tunnel i had ever seen and promptly said "FooooooK"

Will write up more tomorrow when i eventually wake up.

So we have left it in such away we can return.

What an experience and spooky as hell too.

Okay peeps later were all knackered after
watching Joe and Whelan. thumbsup

there is soooo much more to explore in these
tunnels we hardly covered the start to be honest.

But a good Billion candle torch should do us just fine smile

Yeah we got photos of them, we think that was where one of the emergency hatches was.

On one of the photos, I can just make out something that looks like a ladder, behind all the sand...

smile
