So its been a week already since the snow fell and i am still walking on footpaths with slippy ice, i have seen flashing lights at night, so take it these are the gritting trucks going around the main roads of Wirral, but its funny when i get out the following morning never seem to see any grit/rock salt anywhere! i asked the Council to go out and grit some of the pavements, as there is still a lot of them which has not cleared away, and the only way pass it is to walk in the road!, So far i am up to 30 near falls, and i feel for the real older folk trying to get about, the ones that don't afford cars and the likes, i hear it could start to get a little warmer in the coming days, so hopefully this will make our footpaths walkable again.
So i just want to give Wirral Council an award, Thank you for being totally useless!

The Council has never had a routine program of gritting pavements, when resources become available to do it it is prioritised by requirement.

As the years have progressed and the Council further squeezed financially by successive Governments many voluntary services they offered have been reduced.

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

I can remember a friend who worked for the Council gardening dept, telling me as they can't garden during the winter months and as snow and ice falls, they go around the Nursing home, old people footpaths etc, hospitals etc etc and clear away the stuff so no one falls, how times have changed?

I have seen gritting trucks going pass but no evidence of an grit any where, if the roads had been do this would have spread over on to the pavements thus melting it away making it safe for all to walk on, but it seem the Council would like to people to slip over and end up in A and E, thus stretching the NHS even further this time of year!
I have said it before and i will say again, they are useless, come the election when we can be rid of them

I had a drive around Wirral the other day when it was well below freezing, all the main roads were clear (including Seacombe) which was the result of gritting not divine intervention.

If you think you can do better than the Council then go through the budget documents and set your own budget, I would love to see what services you are going to cut to bolster others.
