Hi can anyone recommend safe reputable boarding kennels for my dog. She isn't a lover of other dogs but adores humans. She has never been in one before but have a family wedding so needs must on this occasion. I am looking for a 2 night stay. I have researched a few on wirral but would appreciate advice from other peoples experience, good or bad..Thank you.

I've only ever used Scamps Boarding Kennels at Larton Livery, Frankby Stiles, Frankby, Merseyside, CH48 1PL

Yep, i've used Larton too, 18 days mine was in the for once and he seems happy when collected and all the staff said bye to him and he seemed to like them

The only thing is, you have to pay extra for walks, and I dare say if they are busy these walks may be missed - Maybe i'm just being cynical

Please bear in mind that your dog will probably need to be up to date with vaccine and nose drops.

Hi Master Gee, I've had a dog for fifty odd years( not the same one) and I've never heard of nose drops except for acute conditions, Am I missing out on something I should Know?

I think they mean Kennel Cough vaccine, usually administered through the nose.

Ah thank you all. I do visit lartons for pet food so will check out the kennels as well. Will also look at Glenbrittle and Ivy. My dog is up to date with vacations and flea/worming drops although I know she will have to have kennel cough injection which is fine. However I don't know what the nose drops are for and my vet hasn't mentioned them. Thanks for help.

Sorry, i should have clarrified but tedmus hit the nail on the head, yes its for kennel cough; most kennels require it.

One of my dogs is old with arthritis and is a radiator hugger at home. I had to leave her for a few days during the cold snap a bit back. I was worried about the outside shed type kennels so booked her into Glenbrittles apartments which are brick built, less draughty and a bit warmer with a small wall mounted radiator and raised bed , a large inside and reasonable outside area. It was about £23 a night I think . Have to say she seemed ok -no better or worse when she came out than when she came out of their standard kennels, but Id worried less! Its hard to know in any of Wirrals kennels how much or little human attention they get , but they allegedly get two round the field walks a day.
