Does anyone know what is going on to left of the Station Road if you are travelling from Storeton/Lever Causeway towards Barnston? A new road entrance has been created and it looks like something substantial is being built.

Thanks

Is it likely to be connected to the underground cables stretching across Wirral? From Landican there are various in roads being made across fields They have crossed over Landican Lane, Whitehouse Lane and continuing . I assume it must have crossed Station Road also.

Under ground DC cable from Scotland to Flint Power station, if you use any of the roads across it's route they have the same setup.

Why did they not take this cable up the river Dee instead of spoiling parts of the Wirral, After all we can lay cable across the Atlantic..?

That's a very good question. Because that idea looks sensible, there must be a good technical reason why not. I hope someone knows the answer.

In planning, designing and constructing the Western Link we aim to minimise disturbance to communities and the environment.

One of our initial ideas was to route the cable through the Dee Estuary as it is the most direct route, but this was not feasible. The movement of the sand on the bed of the river and the use of the estuary by shipping increased the possibility that the cable would not work properly or would be damaged. Also, the Dee Estuary is classed as an area of high environmental importance.

Also contradicting themselves too.

Some comments of interest, on the above link

so when the other link says the Dee is classed as an area of high environmental importance, it might not be necessarily a true explanation. Commonly known as eye wash!
