I wonder if anyone can tell me if Sky On Demand downloading usually takes a very long time? It seems to happen in real time.

We have tried downloading a few times and it does take ages. you need to plan in advance.

It's all down to your broadband speed , needs to be at least 2mb, can also vary depending on provider

Whenever I use it a hour program takes about 5 minutes to download I use virgin broadband basic package

Unfortunately we are not cabled for Virgin. It seems, from your kind replies, that the superfast broadband (which is now available here) might be required. I will think about it.

i only get about 6mb/s....stuff ready to view after a minute or 2....while still downloading
HD takes ages
