I need to send flowers by post to two people, one in St Helens and one in Prescot next month. I'm not working at the moment so need to make it as reasonable as possible and it seems quite expensive with all the usual companies who sell flowers by post.
I thought I'd buy a really nice selection from Aldi and send them myself which should be much cheaper. Can anyone suggest how I can box them up to send by post? I'm just not sure how to get a long thin box suitable for flowers and need inspiration please.javascript:%20void(0)

Do carpet shops still get carpet rolled around a cardboard / other material "tube"? Or am I living in the past? Usually they would discard such a thing when they reached the end of the roll. Cut into lengths it could be ideal for bunches of flowers.

Try asking at Aldi or any supermarket for some of the packaging that they dispose of and simply make your own boxes?

How about a cardboard tube.depending on how many flowers you send. Possibly art shops or photographic galleries may have them. I'm sure W.H smith sold them once upon a time.

Try Tapleys Art and Graphic , Bebington.

Florists quite often have boxes of some sort from delivery of flowers.

I have a 3 metre length of tube but only about 4 inches diameter if you or anyone else wants it.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I might experiment with cannibalising some boxes and make my own. The one about the carpet tubing sounds interesting, I'll try the local carpet shop first. Muzzy2, thanks for the offer of the tubing but I think 4 inches might be a bit small. I'd like to send a fairly large bunch but was hoping for cheaper than £30 per bunch from the well known online flowers by post companies. At least if I do it myself, I know what quality of bunches they will be getting.

You could always buy a cheap saverway and pay them a surprise visit.

Have you tried Serenata ? They have some very nice ones from about £19 on their website.
