Can clearly see that the gate is pointless,also clearly points that the gate is visible.
Joggers use it as a 'stretching post'- a ballet bar for joggers,if you will.
The gate allows vehicular access to the section of prom behind Scott's Quays when the ferry's car park is closed. Which is only about 4 days a year iirc (Christmas day, Boxing day, New Years Day and Easter Sunday).
Why it can't be on collapsible bollards like the break in the path that allows access into the overflow car park is anyone's guess.
