I'm not the Pheasant Plucker
I'm the Pheasant Plucker's mate
And I'm only plucking pheasants
'cause the Pheasant Plucker's late!

Cranky Old Man “See Me”

What do you see, nurses, what do you see,
what are you thinking when you’re looking at me?
A cranky old man, not very wise,
uncertain of habit, with faraway eyes.

Who dribbles his food and makes no reply
when you say in a loud voice, “I do wish you’d try!”
Who seems not to notice the things that you do,
and forever is losing a sock or shoe.

Who, resisting or not, lets you do as you will
with bathing and feeding, the long day to fill.
Is that what you’re thinking? Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse; you’re not looking at me.

I’ll tell you who I am as I sit here so still,
as I do at your bidding, as I eat at your will.
I’m a small child of ten with a father and mother,
brothers and sisters, who love one another.

A young boy of sixteen, with wings on his feet,
dreaming that soon now a lover he’ll meet.
A groom soon at twenty – my heart gives a leap,
remembering the vows that I promised to keep.

At twenty-five now, I have young of my own
who need me to guide and a secure happy home.
A man of thirty, my young now grown fast,
bound to each other with ties that should last.

At forty my young sons have grown and are gone,
but my woman’s beside me to see I don’t mourn.
At fifty once more babies play round my knee,
again we know children, my loved one and me.

Dark days are upon me, my wife is dead;
I look at the future, I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing young of their own,
and I think of the years and the love that I’ve known.

I’m now an old man and nature is cruel;
’tis jest to make old age look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles, grace and vigor depart,
there is now a stone where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass a young boy still dwells,
and now and again my battered heart swells.
I remember the joys, I remember the pain,
and I’m loving and living life over again.

I think of the years – all too few, gone too fast
and accept the stark fact that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, nurses, open and see,
not a cranky old man; look closer – see ME!

Not a poem but a lyrical masterpiece from Fish- a.k.a Derek William Dick

I found a new religion yesterday, I’d just cleared immigration jfk
A priest got in a cadillac, the shoe shine boy sang gospel
As God and his accountants drove away.
You’ll see him coast to coast on live tv, in a stadium
Rocked by satan just the night before
The collection from the faithful is tax free
It’ll pay for his presidential campaign and his yacht

And we all bow down, we bow down to the big wedge
And we’ll buy ourselves some heaven on earth
We sell our souls, sell our souls for big wedge
Are we selling out tomorrow for today?

A surgeon checks your plastic on the telephone
A casio concerto entertains you while you hold
Your credit rating’s good for a madonna or a bardot
A dali or a picasso for his wall.

You’re looking good, looking good with big wedge
Are you holding back tomorrow for today?
They’re driving in, driving in with big wedge
Are we selling out tomorrow for today?

You’ll sell the ground beneath your feet
You’ll sell your oil, you’ll sell your trees
You ideals and integrity your culture and your history
Your children into slavery to labour in their factories
Your mother and your family
You’ll sell the world eventually.
The imf and cia; there’s just no difference they’re all the same!
It just depends on what’s your point of view

I don't trust the government, I don't trust alternatives.
It's not that I'm paranoid, it's just thats the way it is.
Every day I hear a little scream inside.
Every day I find it's gettin louder.
I just want to reach out and touch someone,
'Cause I find I need a friend in this dark hour.

We the people are gettin' tired of your lies.
We the people now believe that it's time.
We're demanding our rights to the answers.
We'll elect a president to a state of mind.

I trust in conspiracies, in the power of the military.
In this wilderness of mirrors here, not even my speech is free.
Every day I hear a little scream inside.
Everyday I find it's gettin' louder.
I just want to reach out and touch someone.
'Cause I find I need a friend in this dark hour.

We the people want it straight for a change.
'Cause we the people are gettin of your games.
If you insult us with cheap propaganda,
We'll elect a president to a state of mind.

Every day I hear a little scream inside.
Every day I find it's gettin louder.
I just want to reach out and touch someone,
'Cause I find I need a friend in this dark hour.

When we the people have our backs to the wall,
do we the people then assume control?
When it's too late to stop our own execution,
when we're faced with the final solution,
You can't elect a dream revolution
when you've a bullet in the back of your mind.

It's just a state of mind.

Another Fish masterpiece

I don't think Fish's rants are suitable for this forum. Why don't you start a new forum for Communist propaganda?

Granny has a laptop,
its sleek and shiny new;
She gazes at it fondly,
and wonders... what to do?

She keeps it gently on her lap,
she really thinks its nice,
She doesn't like the mouse at all,
she's very scared of mice!

But soon she'll start blogging
and take the world by storm,
With precise posts on ecology,
and why our globe is warm!

She'll be in touch on email,
with family friends on the net;
And keep us all enthralled,
with her global tete-a-tete!

She'll engage in quirky forums,
and have a million fans,
Asking for her recipes,
of fish curries and flans!

She'll keep the world begging,
for her poetry and prose,
For her masterpiece in Egyptology,
for the stories that she knows!

So, get set darling Granny,
we're so happy you're online,
You're a Granny in a million,
I'm so glad you're mine!!!

Haha, Candlyfloss. Did you right that ? Very good.

Just wish this Granny had a 'shiny new laptop'.

I think your 'right' may be wrong, granny.

Don't do it again. Remember, two wrongs don't make a write. wink

I think this is a first offence, so the Grammar Police haven't been alerted! The written warning should suffice. grin

Sorry granny, some of my yolks get a bit scrambled. I need to come out of my shell a bit more!

The prodigy Pinz has a home
In the hills of the great Scottish Gnome;
The eating of cakes is a joy for the old,
Nobody says when to stop, I am told;
With rod in his hand he sits all alone
On a stone.
All alone;
On a cold stone
All alone
Eating scrambled eggs!!!

The last bit’s a yolk…….. it should say CAKES!
