Here's a poem I wrote a couple of years ago:-

MY BIDSTON HILL

Mist swirled around the windmill
And danced along its sails
In the stillness of the morning
Where a gentle breeze exhales

Enveloped in a wooded smell
So fresh and unpolluted
Amid the security of the trees
The essence of nature undiluted

I’ve watched the moon watch over you
I’ve bathed in your silhouette
Lived out my childhood fantasies
And ones I haven’t lived out yet

The domes of your Observatory
Stand so tall and proud
Its body lost within your soul
Its head above the clouds

If your trees could talk
The wondrous tales they would share
Of this amazing enchanted place
Our own slice of Heaven here on Earth

I've been writing for years but have never had the guts to show anyone, might do one day though. Keep it up, if you have any more please share.

I'm sure you're a great poetry writer, Sally, but I know what you mean about not having the guts to show anyone. I too have been writing for donkey's years but it's only in recent years I've plucked up the courage to show people my efforts. This was one I wrote while attending creative writing classes a few years ago. I'll try and dig out some more.

I love that as well. Being a simple soul, I like poems that rhyme!

Yep rhyming poems do it for me too. Very evocative.

Nice poem I really liked it. I too like rhyming poetry (although I tend to write more in a rapping style than traditional poetry usually lol)

Thanks Tatey, Dilly, venice, RUDEBOX and EvilCycle. I too, enjoy the old rhyming style of poetry (mind you, at 59, I am knocking on a bit, LOL). I must admit, these days I'm more into writing short stories than poems, but it's always nice to get some positive feedback. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
